A ball in my houseshoe? A door hanger in my bathtub? A block on my bookshelf?

A block on my bookshelf!?

A ball in my houseshoe ?  A decorative door hanger in my bathtub? A toy block on my bookshelf?

The other morning I woke up and slipped on my houseshoes lying by the side of my bed. As I pulled the first one on, my right foot encountered a small, hard round object. I slipped my hand inside and pulled out a small plastic ball! Now what was that doing there?

As it turns out, my 18-month-old son has a propensity to leave toys scattered all over the house. I smiled. The day before, when I went to draw a bath, I found a decorative “door hanger” in my bathtub (my daughter had made it and the last time I saw it, it was hanging on my doorknob!), and then last week one of his toy blocks somehow ended up on my office bookshelf.

Oh the joys of being a new mom again at age 41! Yes I had IVF (and yes, I do coaching for patients undergoing infertility treatment. This is a very important, yet sensitive niche for coaching because there is so much need, yet so few people who have a true understanding of the nature of infertility.)

How can it be that children are wonderful, joyous, special, yet trying and irritating all at the same time!? And then I think of the long, hard, trying, emotional journey that I went through to get my children . . .

. . . and I smile, because now I have this wonderful sweet little guy who gives me open mouth kisses on my cheek and who puts balls in my houseshoes. What is next? What a wonderful experience all over again.

Happy Mother’s Day!

How are you spending your special day?

  1. I never thought of it that way, well put!

  2. I’m realistically not as well acquainted with this topic but I do like to explore blogs for layout strategies and exciting topics. You basically described a topic that I often really don’t care considerably about and created it exceedingly fascinating. That is a wonderful weblog that I will take note of. I previously bookmarked it for future reference. Lung Cancer Symptoms
